Work
September 25, 2020Here are some samples of some of the work I have contributed to. A lot of the projects I have worked on can not be shown here unfortunately as it was developed for use internally for a variety of clients.
Donate 21
Campaign that we did at Brando for the Down Syndrome Centre. The goal of the campaign was to raise awareness of Down Syndrome Centre and drive conversions to donate to the centre. To achieve this a campaign was created which asked people to donate either tweets or cash. If the user opted to donate tweets we would take their details and they would authorise our app to send 21 messages from their twitter account over the space of 21 hours.

Be The Difference (2009, 2010, 2011)
Multi-year campaign by Brando which as part of O2’s rugby sponsorship of the Irish team sought to bring fans closer to the players. The campaign allowed users to submit their name, which was then printed on the actual player’s jersey for game day. The user could then go into the app and see their name on the jersey. These campaigns won multiple awards and international recognition from Cannes Lions, One Show, ICADS and others.
Tweetsweets
Brando wanted to look into interesting new ways to interact with users. So as an experiment we enlisted the help of robotics professor Dave McKeown to implement a machine which we could interact with via an Arduino controller. We then attached the Arduino controller to Twitter. Separately we set up a live feed to the office. People could then tweet @Brando to nominate a member of staff to receive a sweet.
Agency 222
A new agency based out of Dubai wanted a unique website to highlight their own credentials. Brando undertook to execute a website which leveraged Flash’s newly introduced 3D capabilities in version with access to GPU acceleration. The entire site was based around an interactive 3D cube which told users everything they needed to know about the agency. As the 3D cube rotated new sections were displayed on each of the sides. The project leveraged Blender to generate the meshes, TexturePacker and the Flare3d to render the 3d scene in Flash.
Truthbank
As part of a campaign by Brando to help Rabodirect promote truthful banking a website was built which allowed users to upload their personal truths. This cathartic exercise was incredibly popular and remained very active long after the initial campaign. Users could comment and rate other user’s truths.
The Escape Button
iOS app for iPhone developed by Brando for Great National Hotels. It featured exclusive deals for hotels that are part of the Great National Hotels group. Also part of development was a CMS which allowed the client to update the deals and push notifications for new deals.
Seven Research
Wordpress site that Brando put together for a research company based in Dublin called Seven Research. Responsive design with a few unique design elements to set it apart from the crowd. SVGs and padding were used to create a uniquely responsive website with the feeling of diagnoal sections.
Bublove
iOS app for iPhone developed by Brando for Epworth Freemasons Maternity Hospital. It contains advice for expecting mothers and tools to help them through their pregnancy. The app also featured a weekly summary of the stages of pregnancy with information on what to expect.
Tour De Picnic
A collaborative effort undertaken for fun between Dave Clarke, Ronan Murphy and I. Ronan was doing a cycle for Temple Street Children’s University Hospital and we thought that it would be fun to track his progress during the cycle. The app took live GPS data from Ronan’s iPhone and sent it to a persitance service. Using this data his progress was plotted along a pre-determined route. Google Maps API was used for the mapping.
O2 Recruitment
O2 wanted to promote their retail roles in a new and creative way. Brando delivered on this by rendering a 3D representation of one of their stores. This store was then populated with information and first person testimonials about life in retail with O2.
O2 Priority Tickets MSN Takeover
O2 wanted to promote their priority tickets offering at the newly unveiled O2 Arena in Dublin. To help them with this we executed a full page interactive takeover of the MSN homepage. Users pull on the cord for a visual surprise. This execution won an ICAD for creativity.
